Vicar’s Voice – Second Week of Advent

December 2, 2016

Dear St. Stephen’s Family and Friends,

Here’s a simple vision!  “’We are gathered together in Thy name.’  First, we are gathered together, bound by a common loyalty to God and to each other.  Then, when this condition has been fulfilled, God is present with us.  Then, when God is there and one with us, we voice a common prayer.  Then it follows that our prayer will be answered according to God’s will.  Then, when our prayer is answered, we are bound together in a lasting fellowship of the spirit.”  (Hazelden)

advent2What better picture for the life we share than these words.  Our invitation to Jesus is to find our common prayer as St. Stephen’s Church.  It follows that our prayer as a community will be answered according to God’s will and then we will be bound, as many know already, together in a lasting fellowship of the spirit.

Light the second candle.  Continue the journey through Advent and beyond.  Every one of us is essential to the life, vitality and unity of this church.  You matter to God and to St. Stephen’s.  Thanks.

Love and Blessings,

Alvin+
