It’s our 50th Birthday Party! ~ October 11
We celebrate our 50th Birthday on Sunday, October 11, 2015, with one worship service at 10:00 AM. Please join us for lunch at Lake Shore Country Club (5950 Lake Shore Dr, Erie) after the service ($18 adults/ $8 children, special diets are available by request). Please RSVP by 9/30/15 at rsvp@ststephens-fairview.org or call Claire W. at 814.474.2628.Everyone who has ever been a part of St. Stephen’s life is invited – spread the word to your friends and family!
Saturday Morning Bible Study: October 3
Start the weekend off with the word of God and inspiring people! Join us from 7:30 – 8:30 AM on the first and third Saturday of the month for adult Bible study in the Library.
Blessing of Garden Space: October 4     
This Sunday during our 10:00 AM Family Friendly Service we will be blessing our Garden Space. During coffee hour Outreach will share details about where the garden will be located, what it will look like, how the produce will be distributed, and what the plans are for funding it. See you there!

Brewing Faith: October 13
Our 20s & 30s group invites you to the next gathering of Brewing Faith: Tuesday, October 13 at 6:30 PM. Contact Missy for more information.
Spare Change: October 18
This month our spare change will go towards the purchase of food to feed our communityDid you know St. Mark’s and St. Stephen’s have partnered together with the Erie city Mission to prepare dinner on the 2nd Saturday of the month.  Please fill a colorful bag (located on the welcome table) and support our local community!
Springhill Service: October 21
Wednesday, October 21 at 1:00 PM, join us in the chapel at Springhill Retirement Community (2323 Edinboro Rd, Erie) for Holy Eucharist Rite I and Healing Prayer.  No need to be a Springhill resident, an Episcopalian, or even be retirement age – all are welcome!
Celebrating our very own Episcopal School
Did you know?
· St. Stephen’s Nursery School is a member of the National
Association of Episcopal Schools. It is also licensed through the
Department of Public Education as a private academic school.
· The Nursery School was established in 1968 by members of the church.
· 71 children are currently enrolled.
· 10 teachers are employed, plus the director.
· 13 students are supported by scholarships; 2 still available.
Scholarships are through the Erie Future Fund, Pre-K Counts, and the Barber National Institute.
· 7 total classes: Mommy & Me, 2 classes for 3 year olds,
Pre-K AM & PM; Pre-K Long Wednesday, and Pre-K Full Day.· 1 of 2 Episcopal Schools in the diocese. The other is the preschool at Ascension Episcopal Church in Bradford.
Crop Walk Success
On September 27 St. Stephen’s and The Vine participated in the walk to fight huger!   Together they raised  over $400.  Thank you to everyone who donated and walked.
Grounds Clean-up
Thanks to Baron Denniston, Ben Hill and Sharon Ulrich for helping to clean up the property on Saturday.
Special thank yous to Ben Fugate and his team from our scout troop for  the striping on our parking lot as part of his Eagle Scout service requirement.  The Scouts also killed and removed the weeds from the parking lot cracks, and it looks great. This fall bring your rakes and come help keep the church looking beautiful!  All are welcome to help rake leaves at your convenience.   If you have questions please contact Bill U. 774.8292 or 323.3876.

Safeguarding Training will take place Saturday, September 26 at 9:00 AM at St. Mark’s.  Please contact Julien to register.
Raise money for Bundle of Hope: September 26
Sign-up to participate in the Insane Inflatable 5K which is coming to Erie.  All you have to do is enter BOH. Register at http://insaneinflatable5k.com/erie-pa/.

Save the date: St. Stephen’s will participate in Crop Walk this year.  CROP is a mission of Church World Service who works with partners in the U.S. and around the world supporting sustainable grassroots development, disaster relief and refugee assistance.  Sponsor our team or walk yourself! Contact MJ R. 833.3211,  or Steve R. 882.7559 with questions.
Episcopal 101: September 27
This series of 6 workshops begins on September 27 and runs through November 8, 4:30-6:30PM. Episcopal 101 is designed for individuals seeking baptism, confirmation, or reception into the Episcopal Church. It is also great for those new to the St. Stephen’s community. Dinner and child care are provided.If you are interested, please contact Missy.

Come to coffee hour on the Feast of St. Francis to enjoy some fresh fruits and vegetables, and to learn about our new Outreach Garden. At the parish Dreaming Day, when parishioners were asked what their dreams were for St. Stephen’s, we repeatedly heard the phrase “Outreach Garden to help feed the hungry.”  So a planning group was formed in May, researched the idea, and developed a plan they are passionate about.
During coffee hour on October 4  we will share that plan  with the parish. Learn where the garden will be located, what it will look like, how the produce will be distributed, and what the plans are for funding it.  See you there!

Did you know that there are no hot meals available in Erie on the weekend for adults and children who would otherwise not eat?  St. Stephen’s is teaming up with St. Mark’s and the Erie City Mission to serve dinners on second Saturdays 10/10, 11/14 and 12/12.

The program will run 3:30-4:30 PM in the school library. Contact Missy or MJ with questions or if you’d like to participate as a volunteer or by providing snacks.

Evensong is a sung evening prayer service.  St. Stephen’s welcomes the Cathedral Children’s Choir for Evensong Sunday, September 20 at 4:00 PM.  Come support our youth (Annika B., Emma B., & Emma S.) and worship together!
